Eleanor Roosevelt is a powerful inspiration to leaders in both the civil rights and the women’s movements. She turned her energies to a variety of reformist organizations, joining a circle of feminists dedicated to the abolition of child labor, the establishment of a minimum wage and the passage of legislation to protect workers. During WWII, she remained an uncompromising voice on civil rights and a champion for human rights.
The Democratic Women of Grayson County invite you to join us at the sixth biennial Eleanor Roosevelt Award Dinner. The event is on Tuesday, October 11, at the Austin College Wright Center. We will have a meet and greet at 5:30 followed by dinner at 6:15. We are pleased to honor Kate Whitfield as the sixth recipient of the Eleanor Roosevelt award. The Ann Richards honorees are Nana Rylander and Sue Raasch. After dinner, the keynote speaker is Nicole Collier, Texas State Representative, district 95.
The awards presentation will follow the keynote speaker. Tickets for the dinner and the meet and greet are $40.00. Reservations required by September 23, 2016. If you cannot attend but would like to donate, you may do that at our Membership donation link.
